Yongnuo Canon Ef to Sony E Mount Adapter Review

Anyone Got The New Yongnuo EF-East ii Adapter Notwithstanding?

http://www.hkyongnuo.com/east-detaily.php?ID=471

Has anyone got their hands on the new Yongnuo EF-E two full frame adapter to go from Catechism EF/EFS to Sony East Mount?

I just ordered one but now I'1000 worried it may not work well with Catechism lenses not listed on some of their production listings on eBay.

For case, I come across that Yongnuo lists the Canon EF 70-300 F4-five.6 IS USM, only doesn't list the newer Gen 2 version of that lens that came out a couple years ago.

Did I make a mistake?

Re: Anyone Got The New Yongnuo EF-E ii Adapter Still?

I've only ordered mine from Hong Kong for $79 + free shipping to employ with some Yongnuo lenses.  I'g thinking well-nigh getting the 100mm  f/2.  I call back this adapter supports video way AF also, but I'grand not 100% sure.

I bought a used Canon EF 100mm F2 USM for a fleck less than the Yongnuo, and the Canon works well on the Sigma MC-11. The Yongnuo 50mm F1.4 I tried had excellent optics, only it has a DC AF motor with a mechanical on/off switch. The aperture didn't work on the MC-11.

I simply ordered one merely at present I'm worried it may not piece of work well with Catechism lenses non listed on some of their production listings on eBay.

Did I brand a error?

Thank you for blazing the trail.

There is little to naught known about this adapter, other than some of the firmware files strongly hint that it is using an STM32 microcontroller with a similar "encrypted update" arroyo to that used by Viltrox - only not the Verbal same approach.  (Before accusing anyone of copying, I'm guessing that both adapters designed their bootloader from the aforementioned STM app note, and using STM32 is not by any means a surprise as they're one of the about common 32-chip ARM micro families out in that location.)

It's 1 of the cheapest adapters to offering USB firmware updatability, and one of the cheapest (other than Viltrox IV) to offer an option of native emulation.

I can say - native lens emulation of most adapters on the market is fairly poor.  I can likewise say from experience that the Viltrox Iii and 4 take serious issues with any lens not explicitly stated on their compatibility list, while the older Viltrox II played nice with nearly everything except for very specific lenses (like the EF85/1.8 USM).  Metabones is the gilt standard - if a lens doesn't work with it, a lens is unlikely to work well with whatsoever adapter in existence.

Yous've got yourself a deal there.  I bought the Yonguo 100mm f/ii and the 35mm f/2.  The 35mm works actually well on the Sony A7 with the Viltrox adapter, just the 100mm didn't piece of work well at all, and then I returned the 100mm and kept the 35mm.  I likewise have the Neewer AF adapter, which didn't help either.  I hope the Yonguo 100mm works well with Yonguo adapter.

Yongnuo has been selling a Smart Adapter EF-Eastward for a while. I don't see where they are saying that this new one will work whatsoever better with their own lenses. I don't look it to be anything like Sigma's adapters with their supported lenses.

Yongnuo Due east-FE 2 — some results

I only received mine and tried information technology with a few sample lenses, Catechism and Tamron in my Sony A7r3. Results:

canon 40mm f/2.8 ... works well
canon 24-105 f4/L ... works well
Tamron 24-70 F/2.eight —- full failure
Tamron 90mm f/ii.8 —- works
Catechism 50mm macro f/ii.five —- won't focus
Canon "bang-up 50" —- works

Not reporting speed of focus.

So, won't piece of work with some lenses Metabones handles perfectly; but works with a good number so far

What do you mean by works with the bully l with the A7R3 with the Yongnuo adapter? For me with the corking 50 on the A7 2 it would never focus, always kept hunting. What settings did you use? Are yous only testing single focus or continuous focus?

Hither are my results with the new Yongnuo Eastward-FE II with my A7ii:

  • Quantaray Tech-ten 28mm f/ane.viii --- only works with CDAF, 3-v seconds to focus
  • Catechism seventy-210mm f/iv --- only tested with PDAF, won't focus
  • Tamron 28-75 f/two.8 --- only tested with PDAF, won't focus
  • Yongnuo 35mm f/two --- PDAF works well, but the Commlite adapter is faster
  • Yongnuo 100mm f/2 --- PDAF works well

A few other issues:

  • EyeAF doesn't piece of work
  • AF-C doesn't work for video (their advert lists the Video icon)
  • AF-C focuses only if you agree down the shutter button half-way

'M' or 'A' mode?

Phase-detect simply or contrast-notice but is merely 'A'.

'A' emulates the LA-EA3 and so no continuous video AF. AF-C only at Lo. Eye AF should work (very poorly) when AF System is set to Contrast-detect but.

There is a brusk list of Canon lenses (no Yongnuos) that Yongnuo claims will piece of work in 'M' mode. It was posted in the other thread.

What do y'all mean past works with the nifty 50 with the A7R3 with the Yongnuo adapter? For me with the corking 50 on the A7 two information technology would never focus, e'er kept hunting. What settings did you lot employ? Are you simply testing single focus or continuous focus?

Honestly he needs to be MUCH clearer almost exactly which "nifty fifty" he tested.

Not sure almost the 40/2.eight (he didn't clarify if it was STM, I don't remember if a non-STM has e'er existed for that lens), but the STM50 is VASTLY different than whatever of its 50/1.8 predecessors as far as how well it plays when adapted to Sony.

The 50/1.8 STM is one of the nearly adapter-friendly EF lenses on the planet (the Viltrox Four on onetime firmware is the ONLY adapter I've ever seen fail with it), the previous 50/ane.8 variant was notorious for non playing nice with anything.

Correct, I should have been more specific, and I also wish I had seen that list of uniform lenses first.   I hurried my outset post.   My apologies.    When information technology started blinking rapidly with the Tamron 24-70mm, I thought, "this thing is useless."   Only depending on what lenses you take, not actually useless at all.

The 50mm lens is labeled ""Catechism EF Lens 50mm one:1.8 STM. "   It has a 49mm thread.   How tin I define it more than conspicuously to improve indicate which one.

The 40mm is labeled "40mm 1:2.eight STM" -- very shallow -- projects from adapter well-nigh three/4"

Thanks so much.   I'd been looking for something like that but somehow managed not to discover it!

Information technology failed with the l/1.8 STM?

Congratulations Yongnuo - you're the second adapter manufacturer to manage to pull that one off.  That'due south HARD.

Stiff evidence their adapter is a kang of the Viltrox Iv - which is the onyl other adapter I've seen fail with the STM variant of the l/1.8.

No, it didnotfail with my 50mm f/1.8 lens.   I know in that location are many varieties of these 50mm lenses.   Works just fine (again in A mode.)

Whoops, I could have sworn someone said it didn't piece of work.

Mayhap it was someone who was referring to one of the old variants.

Sorry for the confusion - that leaves the Viltrox 4 as being the but adapter I've e'er seen fail with the STM50.
